HOW DOES IT WORK.
Conto Termico 3.0 came into effect on December 25, 2025. The Conto Termico Bonus is aimed at private individuals—who can apply for it for both residential projects and businesses—public administrations, and third sector entities, with the aim of incentivizing energy efficiency upgrades, but also the production of thermal energy from renewable sources or high-efficiency systems.
THERMAL ACCOUNT FOR PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS:
INSTALL BIOMASS GENERATORS
The incentives under the 2026 thermal account also coverthe installation of biomass heat generators for private use: stoves, fireplaces, boilers, and cookers fueled by pellets, wood, or hybrid systems.
The incentive promotes the replacement of obsolete systems with more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions, in line with the objectives of reducing emissions and promoting renewable energy sources.
THERMAL ACCOUNT INCENTIVES:
ELIGIBLE INTERVENTIONS FOR BIOMASS GENERATORS
The Conto Termico 3.0 allows private individuals to carry out various types of work.
These include replacing old heating systems with latest-generation generators. It is therefore possible to take advantage of the incentive for:
- install a hybrid system with a maximum nominal thermal power of 2,000 kWt
- connect old systems to other efficient district heating systems
NEW THERMAL ACCOUNT:
REIMBURSEMENT METHOD
For private individuals, €500 million has been allocated, of which €150 million is earmarked for businesses.
Conto Termico 3.0 provides support for up to 65% of eligible expenses. The exact percentage of the incentive is assessed on the basis of three aspects: surface area, power unit, and plant productivity; however, if the work is carried out on a public building located in a municipality with a population of 15,000 or less, the incentive is 100% (provided that the applicant is the user of the building).
For private individuals applying for the bonus for a residential building, access is direct; while for private individuals applying for a business, a preliminary assessment is required.
Incentives are paid inunica if the amount is equal to or less than €15,000; if it is higher, they are paid within five years.
